Yet another retirement: Bob Mayo

December 17, 2024 0 By Eric O'Brien

This has been quite a year for broadcasters to retire in Pittsburgh. It should come as no surprise though, as many of them – a la Johnson and Delano – have served this region for decades. WTAE-TV reporter Bob Mayo is no different. His last 30 years alone have been working for Channel 4. In a Facebook post this morning, Mayo says the earliest experience he was involved in was as a teenager in the late 60s and early 70s as a student volunteer on “The Place” which was hosted by Dennis Benson and produced at WQED. After college he was a writer and producer at KQV and eventually moved on to WWSW and then WTAE Radio.

Here is Mayo in his own words.
