WTAE lawsuit settled

Last month, a story was released about a Fayette County woman who was suing WTAE-TV for incorrectly airing her photo instead of that of a woman with a similar name. Now the Post-Gazette reports that the case has been settled in U.S. District Court. As it turns out, 49-year-old Kathy Bass was defending her identity against that of her own daughter, 24-year-old Kathy Ann Bass who had been an accomplice in a kidnapping in 2010 when the story aired. The kidnapping charge was dropped after the younger Bass pleaded guilty to lesser charges.

The terms of the settlement have not been released and have not yet been finalized.
