WSTV off air; apparently dark

WTRF-TV’s (7) website is reporting that WSTV-AM (1340) Steubenville is no longer on the air. Radio station management confirmed that the station went black earlier today. 1340 first signed on in 1940. The station had recently become an ESPN affiliate. Channel 7 reporter Dave Elias notes that the stationWSTV has apparently been at odds with the supposed owner of the property where the transmitter sits on Altamont Hill. The site is that of WTOV-TV’s (9) studios and transmitter site. Also broadcasting from that site is WOGH-FM (103.5). Both 103.5 and Channel 9 have carried the WSTV callsigns at one time or another. 103.5 and 1340 remain sister stations under the Keymarket ownership while WTOV-TV is owned by Cox. More as we hear it.
