WSHH morning show local again; new sports anchor at WTAE

WSHH (99.7) has adjusted its line up putting live and local back on the morning show. Jordan Kline who has brought great ratings to the station for middays since 2016, moves to the morning slot almost two years after Cris Winter was let go from the position. Kline has also been hosting middays for similarly-formatted sister station WEJZ in Jacksonville, Florida. Since Winter’s departure in 2020, the Wish morning duties have been handled by Melanie Heinkel via voice-tracking from Renda’s station group on the Gulf Coast of Florida.

With Guy Junker’s retirement from WTAE-TV in April, the search was on for a new anchor for weekend sports. The station announced several days ago the hiring of Emily Giangreco. Her last day at KVUE-TV in Austin, Texas was over Memorial Day Weekend. She’s not really a stranger to our area though native of Washington, D.C. But her studies in journalism and communications at West Virginia University. Giangreco will start at WTAE on July 6. (Trib)

Speaking of Guy Junker, we understand from our friend, Chris Shovlin, a surprise party held for the recent retiree at Duke’s Upper Deck Cafe was filled “with dear friends and many of Pittsburgh’s finest, most iconic TV and Radio artists”. City of Pittsburgh councilman Corey O’Conner was on hand to proclaim May 28, 2022 (the date of the party) as Guy Junker Day in the City of Pittsburgh. Speakers included Bill Fontana who gave Junker his first broadcasting job at WMBA, Stan Savran, and “Banana” Don Jefferson.
