WQED soliciting door-to-door?

May 9, 2019 Off By Eric O'Brien

I belong to a Facebook group for residents living in the township in which I reside. These north-of-the-city residents have been discussing the frequent appearance of door-to-door solicitors. Many are complaining about the disturbances because they have township-supplied signs that say “No Soliciting”.

Then I came upon this response in the post:

I have 2 no trespassing and 2 no soliciting and WQED still left their crap in my door.

I was pretty sure that WQED did not go door-to-door (I mean, why?) and my retort was followed up with this answer:

…apparently they do. It was a door to door campaign. I did call them and they said it was their people… and I googled the number just to be sure I was calling a spam number from a flyer.

So, WQED, why in this day and age do you feel it necessary to go door to door? I invite your response.

For what it’s worth, the township in which I live requires solicitors to have a permit to do so. Another source says the only such permit in effect is with Comcast/X-Finity. If someone comes to your door, either don’t answer it or be sure to ask to see their permit.
