WPXI names Oxenreiter new sports director

Announced on tonight’s 10:00 p.m. newscast, WPXI-TV (11) has named Alby Oxenreiter as the new sports director for the station. He takes over for John Fedko who retires at the end of the year. Oxenreiter worked at WTAE-TV (4) from the late 1980s to 1996 when he moved over to WPGH-TV (53) when the station began a 10:00 p.m. newscast. At the time, Oxenreiter was the only familiar face on WPGH. He would later be joined by Jay Harris and eventually Sheila Hyland with whom he worked at WTAE. In 2006, when WPGH signed a news sharing agreement with WPXI, Oxenreiter was hired by WPXI to maintain his “Ox on Fox” sportscast.
