WMBS owner dies
April 28, 2022Robert Pritts, executive director and a principal owner of WMBS (590 Uniontown) has died at age 89. Mr. Pritts was the great-nephew of H. S. Dumbauld, one of the station’s original founders in 1937. That would have taken place when Mr. Pritts was about 4 or 5 years old, but his role as executive director of Fayette Broadcasting didn’t happen until 1998.
Prior to that he spent 40 years in Columbus, Ohio as a teacher and school administrator. He was also an active philanthropist, starting the Robert M. and Catherine M. Pritts Scholarship for Education at his alma mater, The University of Findlay*.
At WMBS, Pritts was dedicated to maintaining the founding vision of WMBS – to be a locally-minded service to the community.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine, and two sons. Funeral arrangements have not been announced.

I’ve always liked WMBS, remaining a stable, hometown radio station, despite operating at only 1000 watts and not having an FM sister station for years. Their sound quality has always been smooth and clean, a pleasing station all around.
I hope the WMBS has made plans to stay on the air.
FYI, He attended the University of Findlay not the University of Philanthropy
Oh $&@! Thanks…
