WJAS alters lineup
May 9, 2021A Facebook user in a group of some sort (the post caught my eye and then lost it once I clicked over to the WJAS website) shows that 1320wjas.com has a new- make that slightly changed weekday lineup. Glenn Beck is back in the daylight 9:00 a.m. – Noon which is when he airs live from “the bird”. Mark Levin is on from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. followed by Buck Sexton from 9:00 p.m. – Midnight. I think I need not go any further with this… except to say that if you tune in this week at 9:00 a.m. you’ll hear Glenn Beck.
Really disappointed that Wendy Bell is not on WJAS!
She really told it like it is but I guess you cant do this in this country anymore!
Love your straight ahead radio site!
Wendy Bell is let go because of her obnoxious personality and you see that as her ‘telling it like it is’? That’s just her expressing her opinions. They may or may not be factual. Then you go a step further and say ‘you can’t do this in this country anymore.’ That’s a huge assumption. You expressed your opinion on here. Did anyone stop you?
Beaver County Times is quoting a WJAS spokesperson as saying it is “an internal personnel matter that is being handled within the company”. Make of that what you will.
That’s a fancy way of saying she was fired… go back to her firing from KDKA last year. There was the initial shockwave and several weeks later, the “official” announcement. Formalities.
take it for what it is, she is toxic to the airwaves in the pittsburgh area, while yes she is liked or loved by many her mouth gets her in trouble. St Barnabas is a business with connections that her toxicity cant afford to rub off on and in the end hit them in their bottom dollar.
Radio always caves to public pressure no matter how small the complaint rather than stick up for the personality. Wendy Bell is truthful, open about her feelings and honest.
For the record: Since Mr. Gerson acknowledged my disdain for political talk in his original post, I removed such from his comment and stuck to what’s relevant here.
Anyway, after a day of processing this, it appears that this removal was NOT anything Wendy said on the air… or on Facebook. The WJAS management is saying that it’s a personnel matter which leads me to believe that something happened behind the scenes. People seem to forget that radio and TV jobs are jobs. And people in the public eye can be fired or punished in some way for something that happened behind the scenes in the same manner someone not in the public eye can.
Not unlike when Keith Olbermann was let go from his job with CurrentTV. Joel Hyatt, managing partner in Current, went on an epic conference call rant describing how Olbermann had been the WORST EMPLOYEE EVER. Personally I found that to be a revealing glimpse of things that go on behind the scenes in broadcasting.
Very True!
Wendy is open and honest!
People who don’t want that have many choices, in Pittsburgh it’s WDUQ and PBS as well as the broadcast networks.
Anyway the internet is the future there you can here anything you want.
Thanks for posting Mr.Gerson!
Thanks Eric!
P.S. Eric can we hear KQV on the net?
No. Streaming is not an option with the BCI/BECI stations given the costs, unless it’s talk programs.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they moved Rose to late mornings and picked-up the new Dan Bongino Show when it goes national later this month.
