WGBN seeking power increase
October 23, 2012WGBN-AM (1150 New Kensington) is seeking to increase daytime power now that WASP-AM (1130 Brownsville) has gone permanently silent. The Rev. Loran Mann confirmed the plan to Patrick Cloonan in the Valley News Dispatch. Mann is the Senior Pastor of the Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ which has operated the New Kensington station since 1992 when Salem Communications essentially donated the station to the church. WGBN currently broadcasts with a 1000 watt directional daytime signal with 70 watts at night.
I hope the good Reverend gets the FCC ok to pump up the juice of good ole 1150. Wished it could have been so back when it was the mighty ‘KPA.
How much power are they applying for? Any chance of increasing the night-time power?
No word on the power increase, and no they cannot increase the nighttime power.
