WBBD goes comedy

A change to WBBD’s Facebook Page was our first clue but Radio Insight confirmed this morning that WBBD-AM (1400 Wheeling) has flipped from Oldies to a new Comedy format which has been created by Clear Channel. The format also goes on 11 other CC stations across the country – mostly AMs and even an FM translator.  The format began in August on a Boston, Massachusetts station and not long after a list of domain name applications had been leaked to Radio Insight.

WBBD made history in 2010 when it came to sister WWVA’s (1170) rescue after a microburst toppled that station’s 3-tower array. The WWVA format aired by day on 1400 until a temporary transmitter could be set up for 1170.
