New PD at 104.7

All Access (and various local radio peoples’ Facebook posts) said Wednesday that WPGB (104.7) has a new program director in Mike Kasper. Kasper will be in the iHeart office (which, if it hasn’t already will be moving soon) beginning October 11. He will also be the afternoon drive host – similar to what he had been doing at WUSN in Chicago. He has also worked in Cleveland, Philadelphia, Richmond, and others markets. We understand Pittsburgh was the market which inspired him to get into the business, but this will be his first on-air appearance in the market.

Christmas in ON the air

Christmas is on the air in the Youngstown-area. “Christmas 104” WWIZ (103.9 West Middlesex) is the official format being served on the Cumulus station which will continue through December 31. Last year, in the first year of the pandemic, the station was flipped in late September – a spark of hope for many who were exhausted from the pandemic. While it seemed some listeners were a little dismayed last year, it seems they wanted it this year. “Even before Labor Day, we got calls and emails from people asking when we’re flipping,” operations manager Charley Connolly told Radio Ink. “We’re just giving them what they’re asking for!”

Stay tuned…

Coming up by the end of the weekend, I will be sharing some special audio appropriate for the “Spooky Season” back when Halloween was only celebrated on October 31. Stay tuned for a new PBRTV Podcast!
