Given the social media post by KDKA-TV yesterday, things really must have been crazy at their switchboard. I can certainly understand the confusion given the call letters, which is why I posted the item I did. And let me just say I appreciate anyone and everyone not responding with political posts. This morning, however, I saw a post from a friend from outside of the broadcasting industry. She suggests that the rhetoric being spewed by the host who has been creating the kerfuffle above may be trying to gain national attention and perhaps get a boost from a national network somewhere. That thought crossed my mind the other day, actually. My friend also suggested that the more attention given to the situation is like oxygen feeding the fire. I fully agree. Until such a time something about this should become newsworthy, the topic ends here.
KDKA-TV reporter Pam Surano and her fellow reporter collegues are asking for prayers for her daughter. On Monday she posted that Mary had a devastating trampoline accident and has no movement or feeling from her chest down and is in the hospital. I’m sure she would appreciate the support.
And today in Rob Owen’s column, he explains that air talent who are terminated without cause like Rick Dayton and Susan Koeppen were over the summer are not held to non-compete clauses in their contracts. Koeppen has been appearing some mornings on WDVE (102.5) recently. Dayton meanwhile has not been seen and may perhaps be working more with his photography side gig.
