This website is beginning it’s 25th year!
October 24, 2022If I had felt anything like my normal self on Friday, October 21, I would have likely remembered to acknowledge this website’s 24th birthday! But I barely knew what day it was. In among bulletin production for three Sunday services and a Saturday funeral, I was trying to stop the faucet my nose had become as a result of some foods which caused some bizarre reaction! Yikes! (It was not COVID… and I managed to keep my germs off the bulletins!)
But really, nobody celebrates “24” anyway. The bigger celebrations usually fall on the “multiples of 5”. So October 21, 2023 will be a Saturday and we’ll celebrate somehow then!
Granted the business of radio and television are nothing like they were in 1998 and even then they had already changed significantly. And I think we’re on the verge of even more change!
Do you have any ideas for how we should celebrate over the next year? I’m all ears.
Meanwhile, as time allows, I will be going through the site to update information for accuracy! Stay tuned.
You can probably give us some of your favorite moments from your website over the past 25 years.
I’m not sure I have the gray matter to remember all that!
You know what I think would be cool? Find some people who were heavily involved in Pittsburgh broadcasting 25 years ago and do a “Where are they now?” feature. Former news anchors, reporters, or radio DJ’s. It would be interesting to see where some people ended up (different markets, retired, etc)
That would be cool. I did attempt to get a momentum going with the podcast, but the last couple of years slowed that down. I’ll work on it!
Congratulations PBRTV on starting your 25th year. How to celebrate? I suggest (you can determine how wide a span to do this) an occasional “This day in Pittsburgh radio and television history”. Keep it simple like “On this day, Westinghouse broadcast the presidential election results on a service that eventually became KDKA-AM” (for November 2).
Excellent idea!
Congrats on the anniversary! The site is enjoyable as always.
Thank you, I appreciate it .
