The Fan’s new line up
December 19, 2013KDKA-FM (93.7) “Sportsradio 93-7 The Fan” announces their new lineup scheduled to begin on Monday, January 6, 2014. The announcement comes on the heels of the departures of Vinnie Richichi and Paul Alexander who were let go during company-wide budget cuts on Monday.
Former Pittsburgh Steeler Josh Miller joins the morning show (6:00 – 10:00 a.m.). Andrew Fillipponi will become the co-host for the station’s midday program (10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.). Colin Dunlap will move to evenings (6:00 – 10:00 p.m.) where Fillipponi is on air currently.
The complete weekday lineup will look like this January 6:
6:00 – 10:00 a.m. – “The Fan Morning Show” with Gregg Giannotti, Josh Miller and Jim Colony
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. – “Cook and Poni Show” with Ron Cook and Andrew Fillipponi
2:00 – 6:00 p.m. – “Starkey and Mueller Show” with Chris Mueller and Joe Starkey
6:00 – 10:00 p.m. – “The Colin Dunlap Programme” with Colin Dunlap
Kind of curious: Does Joe Bendel figure in the plans? He’s a talented sports reporter who did good work on ESPN 970.
If The Fan was going to get rid of someone, why not Cook instead of Vinnie? I’m not entirely impressed with Ron Cook as a writer for the P-G (Dejan Kovacevic at the Trib is a much better and more engaging columnist), and he’s almost as annoying on radio and his appearances on KDKA-TV. I hope Fillipponi can do a better job reigning in Cook than Vinnie did.
And, judging by what you posted, can we presume that The Fan will air CBS Sports Radio programming after 10pm? I know that was a tough time slot to sell ads for (I first started listening to The Fan through the radio.com mobile app for Chris Mueller’s old 2-6am, then 10pm-2am show; I recall hearing a lot of PSA spots being aired during that time). But, I wonder if that’s going to fly when you potentially lack a “Fan Reaction” show after a Pens or Steelers game on Muddy Channel’s radio stations.
