Thank you
July 25, 2019To those of you who left comments either on the Facebook post or the website comment button about my post from yesterday, thank you. The support I have received over the years since diagnosis – from friends and strangers – have been nothing but positive and humbling.
Yet, I have to tell you, Parkinson’s Disease I have does NOT define me. Sure, I’ve had to make some provisions and changes in my life and daily activities, but I am still me.
This point was proven the other night when I was with a friend whom I have known for a little over a year. In that time, however, she is one of a few who have stepped in to make sure I don’t wither or go into monkish seclusion. We were discussing an upcoming appointment to which she will escort me and I was expressing my gratitude and a little bit of apology for the need.
“I really wish you knew me before these damn tremors existed in me,” I said.
She said, “Eric, the disease doesn’t define you. I know and love you for you.”
“But…”
“The disease doesn’t define you.”
I have lots of radio left in me, folks. I just need to do it on my terms and ability.
For the record, I am fine. And I am grateful to all of you for your caring. Now move along… we have radio business to do.
I have the same condition at 49. It’s tough to not become a recluse, trust me! Chin up!
