Tattletale time
July 24, 2019If you are aware of my health situation, you will likely not be surprised by this announcement. If you aren’t aware of my situation (and why should you be?) read here. I’ll wait.
Caught up?
Good.
Last week was my last regularly-scheduled week at the Broadcast Communications, Inc. stations. Given the demands of the job, my doctor, caring friends, and I thought it was for the best. No, I have not progressed to the extent that I couldn’t do it, I really didn’t want it to be the reason it ever got to that point. The long days on my feet affected the strength in my legs making a lengthy drive home a little dicey.
I am still on the air. Thanks to modern technology, the weekly public affairs show I have hosted since 2018, “In Touch” will continue on the stations and I continue to monitor WKGO (88.1 Murrysville). Lord knows I’ll have more time to update some of the programming on it too! I have also agreed to continue to do many of the projects that I have been doing which don’t require a trip to the station.
I am grateful to station owners Bob and Ashley Stevens for the 12+ years of opportunities at the studios and look forward to continue working with them as time moves forward.
While I am working at the church these days as Director of Communications, the hours and physical requirements aren’t as demanding. That means I will have more time (but not always energy) to devote to this website!
Onward and upward!
I’ll miss hearing you read the weather as I listen to KHB on my porch on long summer evenings. Hang in there, Man. We’re all praying for you.
May God grant you His strength as you continue your journey.
You are a wise man to recognize your time and energy levels so that you can continue to be productive and do the things closest to your heart, Eric. A true sign of maturity, compassion towards your family’s needs and a stalwart example to your readers. I appreciate your work and pray you recognize whatever path our Lord has laid out for you. Somewhere along the line, I missed the info of your association with 88.1 – my favorite radio station for the last year-plus. Please do not change the music format, EXCEPT to perhaps find a way for devoted listeners and ‘beautiful music lovers to access a ‘playlist’ of that music. I’m forever trying to remember the titles of some of my favorites. Life is short; and I’d sure like to have that info – now! The best of everything in your every future endeavor, Eric.
That’s a brave call.
You are calling your own shots — which makes you far more wealthy/fortunate/liberated/lucky/blessed/(choose your own, why not?) than most people could confess for themselves. Onward indeed!
I wish you all the best and believe that your positive attitude and fortitude will benefit you. I commend you for your decisions, as only you know what it best for you!
