Tady show adds an hour; Crow takes late morning shift
January 7, 2025Beaver County Radio has made a few adjustments to their schedule. While most of the areas North of the city were bracing for impact of a storm that hit further south, Scott Tady and Eddie Crow were busy prepping and hosting their radio programs.
Scott Tady, former writer at the Beaver County Times, has been hosting “The Beaver Morning Show” at WMBA (1460; W239CR 95.7 Ambridge) from 7-10 a.m. since April 2024. Station manager Frank Sparks joined Tady over the summer before taking the same slot on sister station WBVP (1230; W257EA 99.3 Beaver Falls) in the fall. The intention was to seek a new co-host for Tady, but late last month it was determined he could handle things solo. As of Monday, the show runs from 6-10 a.m.
Meanwhile WBVP has further tapped Eddy Crow’s talent to host “Something to Crow About” on WBVP from 9 a.m. – Noon weekdays. The talk show features guests and listener call-in opportunities along with Crow’s unique take on world events.
WBVP and WMBA are owned by St. Barnabas Broadcasting along with Butler stations WISR, WBUT, and WLER, as well as Pittsburgh’s WJAS.
I enjoy listening to these stations sometimes, hearing Eddie Crow on his talk show on 1230, and DJing on 1460 The Beaver, with its combined country and rock format, which I think is special in broadcasting.
It’s classic local fuller service radio, and the way it should be done, rather than all automated. Other stations that are like this, try 590 WMBS and 1450 WJPA, for music, news and local events, where the personnel are in the studios.
A live DJ is sometimes on 950 WIXZ, Steubenville-Weirton’s owner Bob in the mornings usually, even though they don’t include the other elements like news and local talk, since they’re a music station. 570 WKBN Youngstown has local talk, but little music, except a blues show on the weekends and maybe polka.
Anyone know of more?
