Struthers Schools may give up WKTL

Tom Taylor reported Thursday that the Board of Education of Struthers Ohio City Schools is considering giving up the license for Class B WKTL (90.7). Currently the station is a simulcast of WAPS (91.3) 50 miles to the west, but retains the ethnic programming on Saturday. WAPS – an adult alternative station –  is interested in leasing WKTL with the caveat that the Saturday programs remain. Meanwhile, Frank Sole, a Youngstown State University professor and former WKTL employee wants to make it a community station while the school district is considering a sale to Patrick Communications.
