Steel City Media expands to Kansas City
June 18, 2014The Pittsburgh Business Times reports that Steel City Media has an agreement to buy a four FM cluster in Kansas City from Wilks Broadcast Group. The stations include KFKF-FM, KBEQ-FM, KMXV-FM, and KCKC-FM. Steel City’s vice president Gregg Frischling says the stations will maintain their formats, staffs and studio location. The Frischlings have been looking to expand the company for the last two years.
Steel City Media owns WLTJ (92.9) and WRRK (96.9) as well as the City Paper.
The Frischling family used to own two stations in St. Louis, so this represents a return to the Midwest (of sorts) for them.
You’re right. I had forgotten about that.
It’s not exactly Steel City Media, which is the whole Frischling family. The KC group is being purchased by just the 3 sons under the name of MGTF Radio.
