Social media not kind(?), too kind(?) to Bell
April 9, 2020Over the last few days, Twitter has been going crazy over this…
If you need proof Wendy Bell sucks… pic.twitter.com/XBOEe9O5mg

Thoughts? KEEP IT CLEAN!
Though I disagreed with her actual comments after the Wilkinsburg massacre, I didn’t think that Wendy Bell deserved to lose her job over it. After seeing this, maybe I’ll change my mind. She’s a wacko and she’s out of control.
Vanilla bores people. They might tune in, but they don’t really listen. A distinctive flavor that people either love or hate draws more intense listeners, who won’t just ignore the commercials. Love her opinions or hate them, Wendy Bell is NOT dull, bland, or boring.
No question… but it seems many think this is over the line…
The thing is, as I have observed over the years, is that when a “few” get upset and offended by something, they make so much noise about it that it appears that they are “many”. I’ve also noticed that going “over the line” usually attracts a bigger audience than simply toeing the line.
Ms. Bell telling her audience the (liberal, biased) media is more dangerous than the corona virus was the last straw for many long-time KDKA listeners who filed complaints against her outrageous, right wing rhetoric with the FCC.
I hate to tell you… the FCC has very little command over a station’s programming. Other than rather broad guidelines for what to say and not to say (think of the 7 George Carlin words), they aren’t going to do much about that kind of thing. Your best bet is to respectfully complain to the station and not support her sponsors.
Agree with Eric re: not supporting her sponsors would be better leverage than complaining to the FCC about her views. If someone who has the stomach to listen to her show for a few days can come up with a list of repeat sponsors, let’s try that.
You have to ask yourself if KDKA has to concentrate on their “long time” listeners who are leaving the station anyway because they’re being called home to their final rewards, or if they think they should attract NEW listeners? I’m 68 years old, and find KDKA, for the most part, too old fashioned for my taste.
So, she should decide the fate of seniors! Wow. You never know, you might get older yourself someday.
SInce when did she “decide” the fate of seniors? She’s a pundit. An entertainer who makes outrageous comments to attract an audience. The more attention she gets, the more people will join her audience. But she has no power or authority to decide anything for anyone but herself. I’m already older than dirt, but I recognize that her comments are just a lot of noise. Let’s be realistic. Political talk, regardless of what medium it’s on, is about as serious as the National Enquirer or pro wrestling.
Do you think Ms. Bell’s comment, we shouldn’t be shutting down the country’s economy because those old people are going to die anyway, applies to her parents, in-laws, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins & KD radio management’s elderly family members?
