Shady Ave mag sold to Trib

Shady Ave Magazine was launched in 1997 to cover the East End Pittsburgh neighborhoods as well as Fox Chapel and Oakmont. The magazine has been owned by Nancy Polinsky Johnson since 2009 after she had been with the publication since 2003. She is the wife of WPXI anchor David Johnson, and cites the birth of their first grandchild as the prompt for changes in priorities.

Much of the staff under Mrs. Johnson’s ownership will remain under the Trib’s ownership. Meanwhile, the Trib has named long-time Pittsburgh journalist John Allison to serve as editor of the magazine. Before joining Trib Total Media in 2019, Allison was an editor for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Allison said, “The audience that Nancy has established is an incoming editor’s dream,” promising the growth going forward will honor the mission that has made the magazine successful.
