Scrappers comes to WHTX

Whiplash LLC. station owner Chris Lash has made it official. WHTX will become the new play by play home of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers minor league baseball club for 2011 and 2012. WNIO was the Scrappers station last year. The station has also picked up the Pittsburgh Pirates, which could be on tape delay or moved to sister station WYCL “1540 The Farm” during daylight hours when game schedules conflict. WHTX will carry the “Classic Top 40” format after not being able to get out the contract with the satellite service. The station was planning to flip to standards in a few weeks but it looks as though WKTX 830 will be the only station playing some standards in the Valley.
