Reporter changes channels, quickly…

Nicole Ford, lately of KDKA-TV (2), is exchanging her mic flag for one at WPXI (11) as early as this week or next. “Wait a minute,” you say, “I just saw her on KD the other day.”

Well yes you did, but Ford was not a full-time employee at the station. She was a part-timer and, as PBRTV understands it, a freelancer. That means she was not under contract nor will she have to adhere to a a “non-compete”. The young reporter has been at KDKA for just about 2 years and learned of securing the full-time gig at WPXI.

The move comes as WPXI is the 3rd of the “Big 3” to start a 4:00 p.m. newscast tomorrow. Anchoring that will be KDKA alum (and WTAE 4 before that) Susan Koeppen.
