Renewed for another year…
May 29, 2024Although it may seem that I have been in absentia for a few weeks… perhaps months… I am still here! And so is PBRTV as the webhosting has been renewed for another year.
A little bit about where I’ve been…
In short, when you have a two-part wedding going on, you’re busy! My wife and I were married in December 2023 in an intimate ceremony inside the PBRTV World HQ (my lifelong home) by a local notary/JP. Then, just the other day, we hosted a Blessing Ceremony and party at a local park shelter with nearly 200 of our closest friends to witness, receive communion and enjoy a delicious taco bar! When you both work full-time, have a bajillion things to do, and live with Parkinson’s, the hobbies get a bit lost in the shuffle. But I swore as soon as things were over (sad though it is) I would get back to you and PBRTV! Thanks for sticking with us.
Turns out we may not have missed much. I mean we know the Pirates have reupped with Audacy to carry their games, and the Steelers have done similar with iHeart. There has been a little shuffling of hosts around town – WDSY (107.9) being the latest to bring in a new morning show with Cale Berger and Amanda Gorecki. Anything else? Ah yes… the whole WQED thing… which may not be as dire as first thought according to some scuttlebutt I’ve been hearing. And what about Jeff Versyla?! He just dodged a huge bullet after being misdiagnosed written off at an area emergency room! Take care of yourselves folks!
Anyway as we get into June, I am hoping to get back to writing updates here on this and my other subsites; create some new merchandise which very few will likely buy but that never stopped me…
But I would also like to reintroduce the PBRTV Podcast… although it may not be JUST about radio and TV. I am thinking of people and topics to make this happen. Perhaps a mix of regular, frequent, occasional, and one-time guests? And topics that may not always relate to the main point of this website. Let’s see what we can do!
Looking forward to being with you on a more-regular basis once again!
Eric…merch and swag? What\’s the link? I\’m retired, so need new duds! GB! FB
Stay tuned! I need to create new to go with the current logo!
Good to hear from you again! Thank you for all your good work!
Congratulations on all your life events Eric. Much deserved.
Probably the only other thing that MIGHT be newsworthy is Sinclair’s recent announcement that they may be selling off as many as 30% of their stations to help pay down the debt caused by their ill-fated move into regional sports networks. The CNBC article specifically listed Pittsburgh as a market that Sinclair may exit, as their CEO said there are no “sacred cows”. I doubt that’ll happen, but then again stranger things have happened…
I have heard this… but I have it on pretty good authority that it is all hogwash. Don’t believe everything you read.
Yeah I doubt Sinclair would want to leave a market it’s had some sort of presence in since 1978. I think a potential breakup of Nexstar is more likely with their FCC violations in New York with WPIX–and even that one is a stretch.
But anyways, speculations aside, it’s always good to have you back. Even FTVLive.com welcomed back DCRTV today, so at least you’re not the only one recognising their return.
Glad to see you’re back after good Spring wedding vibes.
I was thinking it too, not as much breaking news happens in Radio/TV nowadays, and I think that’s because it’s a mature medium.
I hear you about hosting for the site, and it’s good that you’re able to keep up an independent site. I dropped my hosting after some tech problems with it, then the renewal cost soared this year, so I dropped the web space but kept my domain.
I’m planning to go to the Cloud with VPS it looks like.
