Remembering: “Intrepid Scout”
November 2, 2021There isn’t one O’Brien and Garry listener who won’t remember “Intrepid Scout”. We are sorry to say that Scout, whose real name was Winifred “Winnie” Bricker, has died at 81 years old. She leaves behind a family of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Winnie was one of the best! John and Larry depended on her to do just about everything -and she proved what a hard worker she was in a TV spot we did called \\\”Hey Scout!!\\\”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAjsyrSyjOQ Luckily, I found it on Youtube. \\\”Scout\\\” was remarkable!! Rest In Peace, Dear Scout. Future encyclopedias should have your picture under the definition of \”Intrepid\”.

As a radio and tv outsider (listener) I wish to send prayers to her family. I was a big fan of the OB&G show. Larry, John and Scout (and others) brought many hours of enjoyment to my younger years. Their show had a positive impact. Humor at a time it was needed most. I didn’t work on their side of the radio but I imagine it would bring them a small amount of happiness to know they had a positive influence. To this day my email address includes puppy (i.e. newspuppy, weatherpuppy)at the end. I guess as an homage to an old group of friends. Reed Richards
Thanks for that, Reed. Scout was the driving force (and the calming force) for two very creative individuals. The sum was better than the three individually, and by themselves the three were just freakin’ awesome. I can only imagine the pain in the hearts of John Garry and Larry O’Brien right now.
I just uploaded a better quality version of “Hey Scout” – – hope you like it.
