Remembering Al Dame
June 18, 2016After 59 years of Broadcasting, Al Dame passed away at the age of 85. 28 of his broadcasting years were spent in Harrisburg. Dame is known for innovating airplane traffic reports at WKBO radio. A 1955 Penn State graduate, he later became the GM of WMAJ State College. In 1967, he became manager of WEEP-AM/FM (1080/107.9) in Pittsburgh before forming Endorea with Michael Rea a year later.
Dame Media was formed in 1980 and was sold to Clear Channel in 1999 for $85 million. In 2000, he bought a group of stations in Pennsylvania and Maryland which he sold 5 years later
