Regional Emmy and Marconi Award nominees announced
August 3, 2024According to Rob Owen of The Trib, local TV stations are rich with Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmy nominations this year. Here’s the breakdown:

WQED no longer participates in the competition as a station, but employees can still submit their own work individually. Non-broadcast entities in the competition include the Pittsburgh Penguins, The University of Pittsburgh, UPMC, and Very Local Pittsburgh which is under the HEARST umbrella with WTAE. All of the “Big 3” (KDKA, WPXI and WTAE) were nominated for station-wide categories. The awards will be presented on September 21 in Pittsburgh.
Meanwhile two local radio stations are celebrating nominations for Marconi Awards in their respective categories. Up for “CHR Station of the Year” is WBZZ (100.7 New Kensington/Pittsburgh) “Star”. In “News/Talk Station of the Year” is KDKA (1020; 93.7 HD2; 100.1 W261AX). Both stations are owned by Audacy. The Marconi Awards are handed out by The National Association of Broadcasters. The awards will be announced October 9.
