Ratings for Market #28
November 1, 2017Christmas music will soon infiltrate the Pittsburgh airwaves as iHeart’s WWSW (94.5) will make the switch on Light-up Night – the Friday before Thanksgiving. One really wonders if 3-W-S needs to make the switch as for the last three months they have topped the charts in the Nielsen audio ratings books 12+ category. WSHH (99.7) will likely also make the switch the same day. The change boosts Renda’s AC station significantly each year. Last year it fell second to 3-W-S. Wish is 5th in the book that was released on Wednesday.
iHeart has the better part of the top five as right under WWSW comes WDVE (102.5) in second with the added bonus of what is likely it’s usual boost with Steelers game broadcasts. In third comes WKST (96.1). Steel City Media station WRRK comes in fourth.
All four of the CBS owned station take spots 6 through 9 – KDKA-FM (93.7), KDKA-AM (1020), WDSY (107.9) and WBZZ (100.7). All four of the stations will be a part of Entercom by the time the next book comes out.
If KDKA-AM had three more Mike Pinteks, they\’d still be in the top position.
It\’s no coincidence they\’ve dropped as they\’ve become more liberal.
