“Radio Dhoom” returns
July 4, 2023A New Kensington AM station absent from the airwaves has returned after more than a month off the air.
Late Monday afternoon, an individual maintaining the Radio Dhoom USA Facebook page, notified this editor that “we are up as of yesterday afternoon”.
An aural verification was made yesterday to confirm that WMNY (AM 1150) was indeed back on the air.
No further explanation was given as to what specific technical issues the station was facing.
I’ve been hearing them also, since this past weekend. Starting out they seemed to be on low power and had low audio, but now they sound normal.
Glad to hear that they made a push to get back on the air, but being off air for that long, why didn’t concerned listeners call the station or post to their Facebook page about it?
I’m not surprised they haven’t been forthcoming with information about what happened, that’s a common response from engineering and operators, in good times and bad. Maybe they’re busy, or it’s that old spirit of competition between rival stations, but it’s been like that for years.
I wish stations would change their ways and be more open, and keep everyone up to date with a blog, and actually talk to people about tech, programming, staff.. When people say radio and TV stations aren’t keeping up with the times, I think this is one of the areas where they are not doing so well.
