Please pardon this announcement…
February 17, 2024My mentor, Jack Bogut, used to say something like, “We aren’t supposed to use the radio waves to send personal messages out to our loved ones, but if I could I would say…” and usually it would be a message to wife, Joni, which would be something he said but didn’t say.
(Side note: I just realized this is being posted on Jack’s birthday… so happy birthday “Surrogate Foster Father”!)
In similar fashion, I am not sure I should use this forum as a way to send personal messages, even though I just did. But I am going to break code because I am not exactly sure how to get a hold of this particular soul.
Paging Reddit user “joevelocity” and others…
I am thrilled and flattered that you link to stories on PBRTV as well as many other publications to give it more coverage. Even though you have the link is there, I would appreciate it if you would give credit to PBRTV in the posts – particularly in this day and age are often too lazy to click through to actually read anything. This may be a 25-year-old ‘hobby’ website, and I have asked for and/or accepted very little (money and other things) from my readers over the years. But I still consider it a work that I am proud of. But even after 25 years, there are still people who have never heard of this website. And there are just as many who have forgotten it exists. A little extra promotion for the site (and my hard work and that of others) is helpful and appreciated.
Thank you!
My guess is, whoever is citing you without giving you credit never wrote a college term paper.
Seems there was a recent Harvard president who didn’t site sources either! Eric works hard, these people should give credit where credit is due!
The r/pghmedia subreddit was linking DIRECTLY to articles on the PBRTV web site, and it was assumed a direct link to PBRTV and a listing in the \”Useful Links\” section was enough credit. The r/pghmedia subreddit was serving simply as an aggregator of Pittsburgh media news, and this site was included in the direct links that were posted on the subreddit to articles on other web sites. Since direct links to articles on the PBRTV web site are frowned upon, the links to articles on PBRTV have been removed from the r/pghmedia subreddit, and future posts that link to the PBRTV web site will not be approved. Since there are no longer any links to PBRTV on the r/pghmedia subreddit, hopefully this resolves the issue.
Let it be known that links to the site are *NOT* frowned upon, but we do like to know where it is being shared and how. I frankly don’t understand Reddit … so I’m not sure that I saw everything you mentioned. In today’s “AI” world, I wasn’t sure if posts were being “stolen” or if it was legit.
Additionally, as I expect this kind of thing to happen to a fault, I still appreciate the knowledge of it being done.
Yeah, I’d wondered what that guy was doing, and thought it looked like a ‘bot’ or promotion of some kind, but since no one said anything I just decided to ignore those posts.
And many who have heard about it unfortunately think it’s about either bull riding or inexpensive beer.
Ha! Yes indeed.
