Over the air viewers need to rescan for WTAE

WTAE Channel 4 and Cozi TV are moving frequencies on August 24 at 10:00 a.m.

For viewers who watch WTAE Channel 4 and Cozi TV using cable or satellite, the rescan will happen automatically through their subscription-TV provider.

Viewers who use an over-the-air antenna must rescan each of their television sets August 24 any time after 10:00 a.m. to continue watching WTAE Channel 4 and Cozi TV.  No new devices, equipment or services are needed.

Antenna viewers should use the follow steps to rescan:

  • Press the menu button on the tv remote control
  • Go to the channel or antenna menu and select ‘auto tune/rescan’
  • Allow 5 to 15 minutes for your TV to rescan
  • You can now return to watching us, just like before

“Cutting the confusion of the rescan process is critical,” said WTAE President & General Manager Charles W. Wolfertz III.  “We’ve been working tirelessly, across all of our platforms, to make sure viewers know how to keep WTAE Channel 4 in their homes.”

Nearly one-thousand television stations across the country are expected to move to new frequencies by June 2020.  The move is a result of the FCC’s recent incentive auction to make additional airwaves available for wireless internet services.  WTAE Channel 4 and Cozi TV will be the first in the market in compliance with the FCC plan.
