One more for today…
May 20, 2020Earlier today I re-upped the hosting for this website which is now good until June 2, 2021. You might remember the last big “beg-a-thon” in 2017 when a bunch of wonderful readers contributed a nice sum enabling a 3-year renewal! (Thank you!) I had planned on doing the same this year, but I felt that with the pandemic it wasn’t appropriate with so many unknowns. We’ll look at doing that next year – not that I will be upset if you want to contribute something now. (Wink, wink!)
I know that several people have started Facebook groups with lots of discussion and picture sharing. They are wonderful efforts and I applaud them. But the main reason I’ve not shut down this site (other than I have an attachment to it) is because for as much as I am on social media, this site is quite literally mine and there is no algorithm telling my readers what they “want” to read based on what others have read.
And not everyone is on social media… and with all of the rhetoric on those sites these days, many are itching to leave! They can still get their fix here.
I know the posts on this site tend to wax and wane, but this resource is here for you anytime you need it!

As one who dumped \’social media\’ a long time ago (found it waaaay to social for my liking), I applaud and appreciate your tenacious spirit, seemingly endless energy, and recognition for those of us who value reason and common sense, Eric. Good thoughts and prayers, always.
I canceled mine too, I could see what their game was, and found it intrusive and a burden on my time. Made up my mind that I’d just use the sites to promote something, as a platform for business purposes.
It seems like what radio went through a century ago, when transmitting was done by experimenters and amateurs, and changed to a big business model, highly regulated by networks and the FCC, once people saw its reach and monetary potential.
Dominance was based on transmitter power, a consistent schedule, and star power. Now it’s web brands, and part algorithm, social science, and psychology to keep people in the loop and coming back.
