Oh no! A new sign at KDKA-TV
March 14, 2019Years and years after Westinghouse’s red “Group W” sign came down from One Gateway Center, the Westinghouse font “KDKA-AM 1020” and “KDKA-TV 2” signs remained in place. The radio station moved out several years ago even though it remained under the CBS umbrella until the end of 2017. Yet, Westinghouse purists were just waiting for the fateful day that the classic font came down.
And down it comes sneaking into the annals of history for good.. but that’s just the font. It’s still KDKA-TV.
Honestly, it took them long enough. Most stations, after revising their imagining, will not hesitate to replace their signage.
I notice that Raja is using the KDKA font for his yard signs in the current election campaign.
