New sports reporter to arrive at KDKA

Reporters of all varieties come and go at stations all the time. Unless I am missing some of them, it seems to me there is sort of criteria one must meet as to whether or not a new reporter or anchor is going to be “hyped” before they arrive leaving the viewer to often be surprised when someone new shows up. But this particular arrival is special because we are witnessing a dream coming true.

Beginning in July, look for Cassidy Wood on KDKA-TV (2). Cassidy is an award-winning sports reporter who lately has been hanging her hat at WOWK in Charleston, West Virginia. Wood was born in San Diego, but she had relatives just over the Pennsylvania border in Fairmont, West Virginia, and her father was born in Pittsburgh. No matter where they lived she was brought up with Pittsburgh sports in their home.

While initially in news at WOWK, she was eventually named Sports Director and has won the title of Best Sports Anchor three years in a row. Now she comes to KDKA-TV where she is realizing her dream to cover the Steelers!
