New calls for 103.5
March 20, 2025As the ink settles on Forever Media’s sale of what was WOGH Burgettstown, Educational Media Foundation has put the WNKV callsign on the frequency. Once again 103.5 and 98.3 are sharing programming like they were under Forever’s (nee Keymarket) ownership as fellow “Froggy” stations. Alert reader Bill (a “long time reader, but first time caller” as he described himself) also noted that the Legal ID cluster is WYLR (101.9 Hubbard, Ohio).
I remember the big ‘Froggy’ banner on the hillside out Parkway West for years. I wonder if they’ll regret contracting the Froggy brand, when country flavored music is all over the pop airwaves, and country is gaining ground among younger people again?
I remember hearing 103.5 when I first got an FM radio and they were WRKY, Rocky 103, playing, well, rock. They were the first station I heard that clearly had an automated format, they back-announced songs and didn’t try to hide that it was all on tape.
