Madden signs new contract
August 30, 2024Listeners to WXDX (105.9), particularly those of the Mark Madden show, will be happy… or… maybe not… to hear that he has signed a contract extension for 3 years.
Earlier this week, the 63-year-old Madden hinted that this week might have been his last saying he had a “big announcement” on Thursday. The announcement was that he and iHeart had come to an agreement to extend his contract for three years. He told his listeners, “It’s a three-year deal, but I’ll probably quit after the 2025-26 Penguins season ends if I don’t die before then. So two more football seasons, two more hockey seasons.”
Meanwhile, Madden also said he was having “buyer’s remourse” and he wasn’t sure he should continue. At the same time he said there would be changes throughout the show starting with his producer co-hosting the first hour of the program. Other changes will be revealed over time. Regardless of what the outcome is, this will be his last contract.

I had really hoped that his Schleprock routine was just an act for the audience, but I understand through mutual acquaintances that it’s not. If you don’t like doing your show, Mark, there are plenty of people out here who would give their right arm to take a crack at it.
