Loran Mann dies

WPXI-TV reported this morning that former anchor and reporter Loran Mann has died. Mann had worked at WPXI for nearly 2 decades before leaving to focus more on his ministry. Prior to WPXI he was at KDKA Radio beginning in the 1960s. It was in 1969 that Mann founded the Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ in East Liberty where he still served at the time of his death.

Mann’s church, doing business as Pentecostal Temple Development Corporation, has been the licensee of two radio stations in the area. Originally they owned 1150 New Kensington (now WMNY) which used the WGBN calls during that time. In 2015, Renda Broadcasting donated what was then WMNY (1360 McKeesport) to PTDC and soon the call letters were switched between the two stations. The organization sold WMNY 1150 a few years ago to focus on WGBN 1360.

The Rev. Mann was 74 at the time of his death Sunday morning.
