WRTA-AM (1240) has signed a multi-year contract extension with Rush Limbaugh. This despite the fact that the woman who is at the center of the latest controvery involving Limbaugh is a nearby native. Sandra Fluke, a law student, is a native of Saxton, Bedford County. Fluke testified to Congress last month in favor of a legislation to require health insurance providers to pay for contraception. Limbaugh called Fluke a “slut” and “prostitute”. While protesters against Limbaugh protested outside of WRTA demanding the show be removed, the station received hundreds of calls and e-mails in support of Limbaugh. Station owner David Barger tells WJAC-TV (6), “It remains WRTA’s primary goal to continue providing the community with programming that’s both diverse and offers various viewpoints. The decision was made after reviewing hundreds of e-mails, voicemails and website feedback from listeners.”
