Ken Rice celebrates 30 years at KDKA-TV

During the 5:00 p.m. newscast on KDKA tonight, the crew surprised anchor Ken Rice who was ready to report a story on Olive Oil. At that point co-anchor Kristine Sorenson took over and surprised Rice with a nearly 5 minute montage of Rice’s career over 30 years.

At the end of the report, Sorenson asked Rice, “Are you surprised?” He retorted, “I’m surprised how long that was. Don’t we have any news to report?”

Rice joined KDKA after several years at WTAE-TV (4) and had to work off the air for a year to satisfy a no-compete clause.
