In memory: Donn Wuycik
December 4, 2014Longtime owner of WMBA (1460 Ambridge), Donn Wuycik, passed away of natural causes on Tuesday. He was 60. Wuycik bought WMBA in 1986 and turned the station into a 24-hour operation after many years of 18-hour broadcast days. In addition to a wide range of jobs, he developed a freelance news gathering business in the late 1970s. A lot of his camera work appeared on national network news. At the turn of the 21st century, Wuycik sold WMBA to its nearby competitor – Iorio Broadcasting – who owned WBVP (1230 Beaver Falls). The two stations have been a simulcast ever since.
