History Tidbit
January 21, 2021The video isn’t great, but the subject is. Remember the WQED Great TV Auction? (I personally hated it because it meant way too much time without Sesame Street and Mister Rogers! But I have a better appreciation for it now!)
In this 30-minute segment, our friend Clarke Ingram represented 96KX (WXKX 96.1) with the Kix Beaver (Dennis Elliott was that you?!) at the last day of the April, 1980 Auction.
The host in the segment is “Tom”, but I don’t recall Tom’s last name!
Meanwhile, I hear Clarke could use some good vibes aimed his way these days. If you are inclined to say a prayer, I know Clarke will appreciate it.
Prayers to Clarke Ingram. I remember him from Point Park College radio. The beaver is Mark Stein; there were 3 part time college age guys that did the Beaver Promotion9 … Beaver, Bodyguard and Van Driver.
96 KIX. Their first mascot was a call girl and then they followed that up with a beaver? Yikes!
That picture on the forty year old video tape is actually better than what I get now that QED is on VHF channel 4.
