FCC approves – a “fast-tracks” Audacy sale to Soros group

In June, PBRTV (and other sources) reported on the sale of Audacy to Soros Fund Management was not sitting well with Republican FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr. Carr challenged the Democratic commissioners – including chairwoman Jessica Rosenworsel – on the move which he called a “fast track”.

Fast forward to this past Wednesday when the Democratic-majority led FCC approved the acquisition of the $400 Million in debt to Soros. With this including programs hosted by conservative talkers such as Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity, there is fear among conservatives that these programs might fade from the talk show lineup on Audacy-owned news/talk stations in the 46 markets the company owns properties just weeks before the presidential election between Democrat Kamala Harris & Republican Donald Trump.

94-year-old George Soros is considered by many to be extremely progressive and obviously fear the fast track is to influence voters to elect Vice-President Harris and other Democrats running for office. The FCC, meanwhile, is claiming that not to be the case.

“No decision is final until the Commission releases it, which we have not.” an FCC Spokesperson stressed to Fox News. “Commission-level releases are made available on the main page of the Commission’s website. On a more general note, the Commission has a long-standing process for reviewing transactions that involve emergence from bankruptcy.”

Meanwhile officials said the 200 radio station licenses in question will not be transferred into Soros’ name or that of his corporation, rather he’d be a major shareholder of the “New Audacy” and not “Audacy as ‘debtor-in-possession'”. Others inside the FCC aren’t considering this process to be any different than the 7 bankruptcy proceedings of corporations such as Cumulus Media, iHeart Media, and others between 2018 and 2021.

Audacy, Inc. owns over 200 stations in 46 markets including Pittsburgh where it owns KDKA-AM (1020); KDKA-FM (93.7); WBZZ (100.7), and WDSY (107.9).
