Erie looks forward to new station at 92.7
November 14, 2012RadioInsight is reporting that Erie Radio Company will put 92.7 WEHP on the air any day now. The new frequency licensed to Lawrence Park began testing on Friday and filed its license to operate on Tuesday. The format will be CHR with the moniker of “Happi 92.7” Rick Rambaldo is the boss at Erie Radio Company. He had owned a cluster of stations in the market which are currently owned by Connoisseur Media.
Seewing that WCCR (C-93) has the same frequency out of Clarion, I can’t help but wonder what the wattage (if any) will be for Happi 92.7. There surely will be a reception conflict, oh, somewhere, around Hydetown.
Erie doesn’t need “Happi 92.7”. WRTS and i104.3 are more than enough CHR outlets for a market Erie’s size. Many people here were hoping 92.7 would have been an alternative or mainstream rock station, similar to the old Planet Radio.
Doesn’t Erie still have Rocket 101? There is no law that says everyone has to like mainstream or alternative rock. If 3 CHR stations is too many, let the marketplace decide.
