A report out earlier today says that Entercom will be cutting a significant number of jobs today with blame placed on the COVID-19 outbreak.

Company President and CEO, David Field, told employees in an internal memo, “I am deeply saddened that we need to make painful moves at this time.” The memo was described by rbr.com to be passionate and but also appreciative to those who have worked for the company over the years. Meanwhile, Field remarked that these layoff moves are “necessary under the circumstances”. Nothing was known about who or how many would be impacted by either temporary or permanent moves.

Locally, Entercom owns KDKA-AM (1020) and FM (93.7), WDSY-FM (107.9) and WBZZ-FM (100.7 New Kensington). PBRTV heard late last week that the weekend personalities on WDSY were furloughed while this pandemic continues. That means, Dan Simon, Charlie Mitchell, Heather Myers, and Andy Davis are off the air for now. We also reported that Eddy Crow posted that the “Crowtopia” program on KDKA-AM is off the air until further notice.
