Duquesne Dukes appear on WJAS this year
July 20, 2013In light of the donation of WMNY-AM (1360 McKeesport) from Renda to Pentecostal Development, the broadcasts of the Duquesne Dukes Football games will appear on WJAS-AM (1320) this year. Red Zone Media changed their Facebook page on Friday to reflect the change. The season begins August 31.
If my memory serves me correctly, the Dukes games were broadcast on WJAS many years ago. I still have fond memories of broadcasting the Dukes games on WDUQ with two of my fraternity brothers back in the late 60s and early 70s. What a great time we had!
Glad to learn that Duquesne basketball is back again on 1320. Ray Goss has become something of an unhearalded institution in Pittsburgh sports broadcasting circles, having called the Dukes for nearly 45 years. That’s longer than Lanny Frattare, Bob Prince, Mike Lange or Myron Cope could claim with the city’s major league teams. And knowing him as well I do (we both live in Indiana County), I suspect he’ll be at it for a 50th season.
