DC News: Sue Palka leaving weather at Fox 5

In an attempt to keep note of at least some of the DC events in the absence of DCRTV, we note that Sue Palka announced Wednesday her plans to retire from her weather duties at WTTG (5) effective March 23. Palka has been with the station since 1985 after a two-year stint at a station in Richmond, VA.

Palka says as a baby boomer she’s not sure how to fully retire, and luckily the station has asked her to stick around to do some feature reporting and appearances on their programs.

Palka does have a connection to Pittsburgh. While Palka grew up in Erie, PA, her cousins are Bob and Bruce Pompeani. Bob, of course being the long-time sports anchor for KDKA-TV (2) and Bruce having worked for both WPXI (11) and KDKA in the past.

Palka’s husband Joe has been in DC radio over the years including WWRC (when it was on 980) and Voice of America.
