Dave James dies
March 22, 2025Dave James spent many years in radio news – much of his career was at KDKA-AM (1020) where he took over for “Uncle Ed” Shaughnessy as the morning news man during Jack Bogut’s morning show era with the station. Before KDKA though, James worked at KQV (1410) and WIIC-TV (11; now WPXI). His last radio stint was in 2013 at WSHH (99.7) and WJAS (1320) where he took over morning news for Hank Baughman about a year prior to Renda Broadcasting selling WJAS. At age 83, Mr. James died on Saturday; the cause unknown.
In addition to radio, and like many of his colleagues, James enjoyed acting. In fact he had one of the smaller, yet significant roles in the 1968 George Romero film Night of the Living Dead as “Zombie #15”. More recently he had appeared in a couple of documentaries about the legendary film.
