Cox to Hearst?
November 12, 2018NOTE: Since this post, FTV Live removed the reference to Hearst from their article.
FTV Live is (at least prematurely) reporting that Cox Media Group has found a buyer for its TV stations including WPXI-TV (11). That would apparently be Hearst – owner of WTAE-TV (4). But the official announcement isn’t due until the middle of next month. (I expect the speculating spectators will be talking about this for the next month!)
I’m wondering what will happen to the pension I receive from Cox Enterprises.
Interesting. I suppose under current ownership rules in 2018 Hearst could continue to operate both WPXI and WTAE? I am guessing TAE would bug out of Ardmore Boulevard and combine ops in the much newer building off of I-279?
What happens to WPXI? The FCC won’t allow 1 owner to have 2 full power network stations in Pittsburgh.
