Coupla notes…
June 23, 2023It looks like WQED Multimedia has found their new President and CEO in Jason Jedlinski. He will arrive in town sometime in July. Jedlinski takes over for Deb Acklin who stepped down last year citing some serious health issues and treatment thereof.
According to the Trib, WQED-TV (13) suffered another master control burp on June 18 at the time PBS was premiering the new series “Ridley”. The pothole put on pledge programming instead. Meanwhile, the first Ridley episode will air Sunday, June 25 at 7:00 p.m. just before the second episode at 8:00.
Meanwhile, over at Pittsburgh Community Broadcasting Corporation – the hom of WESA (90.5) and WYEP (91.3): There is a plan to offer voluntary buyouts to two reporters which would likely bring about programming changes. The station is working with the SAG-AFTRA union who has represented the employees since thy voted to unionize in 2022. The moves are a result of rising costs of utilities and programming. PCBC has already made several cost-cutting moves but are still operating with losses. They are not alone. The Trib cites Southern California Public Radio and even NPR have had to make cuts.
