Bongiorno to leave WTAE
October 6, 2012The Post-Gazette reports this morning that Alex Bongiorno is stepping down from her position as news director at WTAE-TV (4). General Manager Michael Hayes tells the paper, “She decided to leave the market for personal and family reasons.”
Bongiorno has held the position since 2009 and oversaw the demotion of Stephen Cropper and the subsequent hiring of Mike Harvey in the weather department. Anchor Mike Clark was moved back to evenings while Michelle Wright moved to mornings. And Andrew Stockey holds down anchoring and sports duties.
The search for a new news director is on trumping any on-air positions needing to be filled.
